How to Use Custom Skins on MineKai

MineKai lets you upload your own Minecraft skin directly through the website. This guide explains how to change your skin, where to find skins, and how to make sure your launcher displays them correctly in-game.

Set Your Skin on the MineKai Website

You can manage your Minecraft skin directly from your MineKai account. Once uploaded, MineKai will use the selected skin for your player profile and sync it with the server.

Log in to your MineKai account

Open My Skin

Open your profile menu and select My Skin.

Choose your skin file

Upload the Minecraft skin you want to use. The file should be in PNG format.

Click Save

Your new skin will be saved to your MineKai account.

Join or rejoin the server

If you are already playing, reconnect to MineKai so the new skin can be applied.

You can create your own skin or download one from a Minecraft skin website. There are thousands of community-created skins available online.

Upload the skin as a PNG file
Standard 64×64 Minecraft skins are recommended
Do not upload screenshots or rendered character images

Important for Unofficial Launchers

Some unofficial Minecraft launchers include their own skin system. When enabled, the launcher may replace or override the skin provided by the MineKai server.

This means your skin can be correctly configured on MineKai while your launcher still displays a different skin — or even the default Steve or Alex skin.

Avoid launcher-controlled skins

If you use an unofficial launcher, we recommend launching Minecraft without the launcher's custom skin system whenever possible.

TLauncher Example

TLauncher provides its own skin system. Versions marked with the TL icon can use TLauncher's skin functionality and may interfere with the skin provided by MineKai.

Recommended setup

Open TLauncher.

Open the Minecraft version selector.

Look for a version without the blue TL icon.

For example, a standard Fabric Loader installation can be used instead of the TLauncher-modified version.

Launch Minecraft and reconnect to MineKai.

Choose a Minecraft installation without the TL icon so TLauncher's own skin system does not override the server skin.

My Skin Still Doesn't Appear

If your custom skin is not visible in-game, try the following:

✓ Make sure the skin was successfully saved on the MineKai website.

✓ Check that you uploaded a valid Minecraft PNG skin.

✓ Rejoin the MineKai server after changing your skin.

✓ Restart Minecraft if the old skin is still cached.

✓ If using TLauncher, use a version without the TL skin integration.

✓ Check whether another launcher or client is overriding Minecraft skins.

Tip

After changing your skin on the website, reconnect to the server before troubleshooting. Your Minecraft client may still have the previous skin cached.
