Minecraft Skills Guide: XP, Levels, Stats & Abilities
Skills are MineKai's long-term character progression system. Normal Survival activities earn XP for different skills, and leveling those skills improves your character through stat bonuses and unlockable abilities.
🧭 How to Open Skills
You can access the complete Skills system at any time by typing /skills. New players can also find the Skills NPC in-game — look for the yellow Skills label above the NPC.
📖 Understanding the Skills Menu
The main menu is the center of the system. The skill icons appear across the top, while GUIDE and STATS give you more information about progression and your character.
There are 11 skills available. Each skill represents a different part of gameplay and has its own XP, level and progression path. Your character can develop in several directions instead of being locked into one class.

⚔️ How to Earn Skill XP
Every skill is tied to a particular gameplay activity. When you perform the correct activity, you earn XP for that specific skill. Skill XP is its own progression system — it is not the same thing as the normal vanilla Minecraft XP bar.
Fighting is a clear example. Fighting mobs with melee weapons earns Fighting XP. Hovering over the skill shows your current level, the stats it develops, ability levels and your progress toward the next level.

What does a skill tooltip show?

Abilities you have unlocked and how far they have progressed.
⬆️ Skill Levels & Level Progression
Click a skill to open its Level Progression. Instead of guessing what the next level gives you, this screen lets you inspect individual milestones and their rewards.
Levels can improve stats and unlock abilities. It is worth checking upcoming levels before deciding which skill you want to focus on.
🛡️ Unlocking Skill Abilities
Skill progression is more than a collection of passive numbers. Certain milestones unlock abilities that directly affect gameplay.
First Strike
The Fighting progression shown above unlocks First Strike at Level 4. Its displayed effect is simple: deal 15% more damage on the first hit.
Fighting can also provide abilities such as Parry. In the current skill menu, Parry Level 1 is shown with 5% damage reduction. This gives combat progression a practical purpose: as Fighting develops, your character gains both stronger stats and additional combat mechanics.
The best way to understand an ability is to inspect its level directly in the progression menu. The tooltip tells you what it does and whether the reward is already unlocked or still locked behind a future skill level.
📊 Character Stats
Skill levels can also improve your character's underlying stats. Open /skills and select STATS to see the attributes available to your character.
Hover over a stat to see what it controls and your current value. For example, Speed determines how fast your character can walk and run.

🌱 Best Way to Start Leveling
If you are new to MineKai, you do not need to immediately choose one skill and grind it for hours. Skills are designed to progress alongside normal Survival gameplay.
Build, gather resources, explore and help your town while relevant activities contribute to progression.
If you like combat, Fighting gives you a clear progression path with combat stats and abilities.
Open Level Progression before grinding so you know exactly what you are working toward.
Revisit the Stats menu occasionally to see how your overall character has developed.
This creates a long-term progression loop alongside Towny itself: while your town expands, your economy grows and your equipment improves, your character continues developing too.
