🌍 How Do Town & Nation Levels Work?
On MineKai, levels reflect the growth of your player-built community. They are earned through population milestones, not purchased as ranks. When a town or nation gains enough residents, Towny automatically applies its next level.
Increase Population
Invite people to your town. More residents unlock higher town levels, new titles and larger land limits.
Join a Nation
The combined population of a nation determines its level. Its land bonus helps each member town expand.
Claim More Land
Use your town's level-based allowance, purchase extra claim capacity and benefit from your nation.
The town level is based on residents in that town. The nation level is based on the combined residents of all member towns. The levels are separate: your town can be a Village while your nation is a Kingdom.
🏘️ All 20 Town Levels
Every town level has a minimum population, a base land allowance, a limit on extra townblocks you can purchase, and a town-level outpost limit. The Mayor's displayed title also changes as the town develops.

The first milestone, Ruins, is the name of the lowest population tier. It is not the same as an abandoned or bankrupt Towny ruin.
🌐 All 20 Nation Levels
A nation's level is determined by all residents of its member towns combined. The land bonus applies separately to each member town — towns do not have to split one shared pool of chunks. Nation levels also set a leader title and a potential bonus to outpost allowances.
| Nation level | Total residents | Bonus / town | Outpost bonus | Leader title |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Band | 0+ | +10 | +0 | Leader |
| Clan | 20+ | +20 | +1 | Chief |
| Faction | 40+ | +40 | +1 | Defender |
| Guild | 65+ | +60 | +2 | Guildmaster |
| Order | 90+ | +90 | +2 | Master |
| League | 120+ | +120 | +3 | Diplomat |
| Alliance | 160+ | +160 | +3 | Commander |
| Union | 205+ | +200 | +4 | Chairman |
| Brotherhood | 255+ | +250 | +4 | Guardian |
| Legion | 315+ | +300 | +5 | General |
| Army | 390+ | +360 | +5 | Warlord |
| Coalition | 480+ | +440 | +6 | Ambassador |
| Federation | 590+ | +520 | +6 | Minister |
| Republic | 720+ | +620 | +7 | President |
| Dynasty | 870+ | +740 | +7 | Overlord |
| Kingdom | 1,040+ | +880 | +8 | Regent |
| Realm | 1,230+ | +1,040 | +9 | Ruler |
| Monarchy | 1,440+ | +1,240 | +10 | Monarch |
| Empire | 1,660+ | +1,500 | +11 | Emperor |
| Dominion | 1,900+ | +1,800 | +12 | Conqueror |
The nation bonus depends on your nation's level, not the level of your individual town. Higher-level nation bonuses replace lower-level bonuses; they do not stack with each other.
🧮 How Is Your Maximum Land Calculated?
MineKai uses the level-based Towny land system rather than a flat eight chunks for every player. Three main sources determine how much land your town can claim.
Town Level
Free base capacity unlocked by the number of residents in your own town.
Bonus Townblocks
Additional capacity your town has actually bought, up to its town-level limit.
Nation Bonus
Extra claim capacity from the level of the nation your town belongs to.
The numbers are allowances, not land claimed automatically. Special administrative adjustments or server restrictions, if any, can affect the practical result.
| Where it comes from | Claim capacity |
|---|---|
| Town level: Town | 160 chunks |
| Purchased extra capacity (all 20 bought) | +20 chunks |
| Nation level: Clan | +20 chunks |
| Total town claim allowance | 200 chunks |
💰 Buying Bonus Townblocks
Extra townblocks are purchased by the town; they are not a free reward when you reach a new level. The number shown in the town table under Max bought bonus is the maximum amount of purchased capacity allowed for that level.
| Command | What it does |
|---|---|
/town buy bonus 5 |
Buy five additional townblocks of claim capacity, if allowed and affordable. |
/town buy bonus |
Show the townblock bonus purchase information and available limits. |
/town claim |
Claim the chunk you are standing in. Purchasing capacity does not claim it automatically. |
/town |
See your town's information, including its current development and land statistics. |
Current purchase pricing starts at $20 per bonus townblock, with a gradual increase for further purchases and a configured price cap. Claiming land can carry a separate charge. Check the actual price in-game before making a purchase.
🗺️ Outposts & Level Bonuses
Outposts let towns establish territory away from their central settlement. Town levels control the town's base outpost allowance, while nation levels provide an additional configured outpost bonus.
🏰 Town outpost allowance
The Outposts column in the town table shows the town-level allowance. For example, Town allows 1 base outpost and Kingsland allows 8.
🌐 Nation outpost bonus
The Outpost bonus column in the nation table shows extra allowance connected to membership in that level of nation.
⌨️ Useful Towny Commands
These commands help you check progression and manage land. Some are for everyone; others require the Mayor or a sufficiently authorised Town Rank.

/nation |
Show your nation and its members. |
/town buy bonus 5 |

❓ Town & Nation Levels FAQ
Answers to common questions about land limits, progression and nation bonuses.
Do I get eight chunks for every resident?
No. MineKai uses fixed town-level land limits. Reaching 18 residents unlocks the Town tier with a base allowance of 160 chunks, rather than a separate eight-per-player formula.
Can I buy the entire bonus limit for free when I level up?
No. The purchase limit only tells you how many extra chunks you are allowed to buy. Your town must pay for every purchased bonus.
Do nation bonuses go to the entire nation or each town?
Each member town gets the full bonus. A Clan provides +20 claimable chunks per town, not 20 chunks shared across the nation.
Do nation bonuses stack as the nation levels up?
No. The nation's current tier applies its configured bonus; you don't add all the previous nation tiers together.
Does being a Deputy, General or VIP add claim slots?
No. Town and Nation Ranks grant player permissions, not population-based claim capacity. Levels, purchased claim bonuses and nation membership control the normal land allowance.
Do level-up titles give the player new commands?
No. Titles such as Baron or Emperor reflect the current level of a town or nation. Commands are controlled by Towny rank permissions and leadership status.
What happens if our town or nation loses residents?
Its level can drop, reducing the land allowance or nation bonus. Existing claims do not become new, free claim slots; the town may need to grow again or adjust its territory before expanding further.
